The Absinthe Abel Bresson is a special Absinthe, because it is a replica from 1839, when Mr. Abel Bresson founded the first distillery in the French town of Fougerolles in 1839. This is automatically the reason why Abel Bresson Absinthe was also the oldest Absinthe of Fougerolles. So his name is forgotten today, but wrongly so. At that time it was famous.Today this replica of Abel Bresson Absinthe is produced by the French Absinthe distillery Devoille, which has many different Absinthe products in its production line.
In terms of taste you can say that this Verte - its color is a brownish green - gets its basic body from coriander, angelica and calamus. Rounded off by anise and fennel, however, there is still a certain bitterness in the end, which is probably due to the wormwood.
Different herbs like hyssop, stinging nettle, wormwood and in the end lemon balm are responsible for its brownish green colouring. Its alcohol content is relatively high at 72% vol. and so it can be further diluted with ice-cold water without having to fear that it will break down. As it is a bit bitter, you can also use a sugar cube to help you prepare it.
